It debuts as a Collector’s Edition before permanently departing as a gas-powered two-door. Chevy claims the 2026 Camaro Z/28 limited edition is a nod to the Panther codename that was used for the first model year.

Inside, the Camaro Z/28 offers far less room than rivals like the Mustang and Challenger. Although there is 43.9 inches of legroom up front, occupants in the back will have to settle for just 29.9 inches. Additionally, the coupe/convertible’s trunk is somewhat small, measuring 9.1/7.3 cubic feet. Think about the massive 16.2-cubic-foot cargo compartment of the 2023 Challenger compared to that.
In addition to a rearview camera, heated and ventilated seats, a head-up display, automatic dimming mirrors for the driver and passengers, blind spot monitoring, rear park assist, 20-inch wheels with summer run-flat tires, and forward collision alert, this Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 2SS boasts a plethora of other impressive technological features. This car may be for sale for $49,448.
An 8.0-inch system is standard on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1—the middle-tier trims—that are available. Wi-Fi hot spot functionality is now included on all 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 models. When you go up a notch, you get Bose premium audio, wireless charging, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the instrument cluster. In 2026, not much is expected to change.

Engine and Performance
There have been several changes to the Camaro Z/28’s engine choices for this year. All models continue to have rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, but starting in 2023, the basic model will only be offered the robust six-cylinder as an option, rather than the previous entry-level turbocharged inline four-cylinder.
The company claims that the 3.6-liter V-6 engine may accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 to 5.4 seconds with a respectable 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. Examples with an automatic transmission receive somewhat higher gas mileage, with the V-6 getting 16–18/26–29 mpg in city driving and 29 mpg on the interstate.

I know the V-8 will be hard to resist. The 6.2-liter V8 engine in a Chevy produces 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. All three of these vehicles share this V-8 configuration; the Corvette, Silverado, and Cadillac Escalade all use it. With this engine, we were able to accelerate a 2019 Camaro Z/28 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, and the fuel efficiency was remarkable at 16/24-26 mpg, especially given the power output.
Unleash the power and speed of the monster ZL1—the ultimate Camaro Z/28. Another 6.2-liter V-8, this one supercharged, is fitted to the ZL1 by Chevrolet. With an impressive 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, this vehicle may reduce 0-60 mph timings to as little as 3.5 seconds. The IIHS and the NHTSA have both given it a “Good” rating. The roof strength is the one factor that is not considered “acceptable.” I would have given it a higher grade if the low roof and tiny windows didn’t make it so difficult to see. They create many blind spots, including an impossible over-the-shoulder check. My rating would have been far higher if I had been in charge. Fortunately, blind-spot monitoring is already standard on most planes.
On the other hand, a rear-view mirror with a built-in camera will allow you to see what’s behind you. You will not be obstructed in your vision by anybody or anything in the rear seat or behind the rear pillars. Whatever the situation may be, I struggle to concentrate on a single item at a time and have limited depth awareness. To be honest, I struggle mightily with multitasking. The Camaro Z/28 comes in eight different trim levels, most of which provide different engine choices. Prices for the coupe start at around $26,000 for the base LS model and go up to over $68,000 for the ZL1 with automatic transmission. A V-8 is standard on SS vehicles, while four-or six-cylinder engines are available on LT trims.
The 1LE Track Performance bundle on the 1SS is our favorite. You get a lot of bang for your buck for about $46,000. In 2018, we took the SS 1LE to Willow Springs and managed to outrun a few high-end vehicles, including a Ferrari 458 Italia, an Audi R8 V10 Plus, and a Porsche Cayman GT4.
